Paul’s TCM Journey

After seeing a variety of healthcare practitioners and being sent in circles, he turned, as many do in last resort, to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Having experienced first-hand the profound healing capabilities of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, Paul began to devour any book or resource on the subject in an effort to understand the deep wisdom contained in this ancient medical system.

Following his long-standing passion for Eastern philosophies and their unique application to health care, Paul decided to embark on a lifelong learning journey, dedicating himself to the study of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Throughout his learning and research, Paul soon came to realise that TCM was not mystical or ephemeral but is instead a coherent and internally consistent approach to reinstating and maintaining health using concepts and wisdom based on thousands of years of practice.

Many of the central tenets of TCM developed from a naturalistic philosophy in which the human organism represents a microcosm of the surrounding environment and the greater universe. It is from this perspective that TCM is uniquely positioned to treat each individual holistically by addressing imbalances in their internal physiological and mental states and helping them adapt to changes in the external environment. As we are all unique, we require individualised treatment strategies in order to balance our fundamental biological systems to regain and maintain health.

What’s important to Paul:

  • Relationship

First and foremost, the relationship with his clients is what drives Paul. Understanding your health complaints in the context of your broader physical, mental, emotional and spiritual landscape is at the foundation of every clinical interaction.

  • Safety

Paul has undertaken over 7 years of accredited training in Acupuncture point location based on a comprehensive understanding of biomedical anatomy to ensure safe Acupuncture treatments and needling techniques. As an AHPRA registered practitioner, Paul is nationally accredited as a safe, competent and ethical healthcare provider bound by strict professional standards.

  • Efficacy

Paul’s extensive training combined with his clinical experience ensures that treatment outcomes are achieved. Relying on a range of diagnostic methods, including tongue and pulse diagnosis, Paul comprehensively addresses all aspects of your unique health concerns.

At the core of his treatment philosophy lies the TCM concept of ‘Ben & Biao’ or Root and Branch, in which not only the manifesting symptoms are treated (Branch) but also the deeper underlying disharmonies (Root) that gave rise to those symptoms. This combination brings about lasting health outcomes for his clients.
