Gestalt therapy is a relationship-focused therapy that builds on a high level of safety, trust, kindness and compassion from me as your therapist.
This is a crucial basis for our safe exploration of what you are experiencing in the present moment in the consultancy room.
Gestalt therapy is particularly concerned with what is happening in ‘the-in-between’; often referred to as the co-created third reality, that exists between you and I as we are in contact.
Focusing on the ‘Here and Now’
Gestalt therapy works in the here-and-now. The emphasis is on what you do, think and feel in the present moment.
We will only draw on your past if it is of relevance to what you are experiencing in the present moment and if it feels safe and okay for you to do so.
The benefit and the idea of working in the here-and-now is that your therapy experience can be integrated while you are ‘walking the walk’, rather than “talking the talk” or “talking about”.
